Healthcare
From birth to the end of life, from performing the world’s first infant heart transplant to providing first access to Lecanemab, a next-generation treatment designed to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s, Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) provides cutting edge care across the lifespan.
From a small hospital, a global center emerges.
Now a global center for health sciences innovation, LLUH was founded in 1905, when the Seventh-day Adventist Church transformed a resort hotel into a small hospital. The mission was to help people live longer, healthier and more spiritually fulfilling lives, and today the mission remains the same, even as the small hospital has grown into a six-hospital system with remote clinics throughout the U.S. and affiliate organizations across the globe. With a staff of nearly 18,000 professionals, LLUH treats more than 58,000 inpatients and nearly 1.9 million outpatients annually, providing the only tertiary care in a four-county region as well as quaternary care in select areas, allowing patients access to clinical trial participation.
Care and skills acquisition informed by ground-breaking innovation.
LLUH is part of Loma Linda University, a Seventh-day Adventist college and research institution, the nation’s only faith-based Carnegie-classified R2 university focused on health and wholeness. Approximately two dozen research centers and institutes across eight schools—medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, allied health, public health, religion and behavioral health—are producing high-impact results, both in knowledge creation, with more than 500 peer-review articles published annually, and in skills acquisition with an annual enrollment of over 4,000.
Diverse expertise diversifies opportunity.
LLUH research is driving advancements in care across a range of services including:
- Neonatal/perinatal development and biology
- Cancer care
- Heart disease
- Stroke and brain trauma
- Genomics
- Transplants
- Rehabilitation
The City is also home to VA Loma Linda Healthcare System, which includes two local hospitals. With a staff of more than 3,000, VA Loma Linda is one of the top employers in the Inland Empire, serving the health needs of more than 76,000 Veterans through an in-patient facility and a community living center.
Patients come to Loma Linda from across the region, the nation, and the globe for healthcare services that are setting new standards, creating compelling and diverse opportunities.
Skills development and experience for 21st century challenges.
Loma Linda’s talent pipeline is powered by the annual influx of the thousands of new high-quality graduates from Loma Linda University’s eight schools; companies can also recruit from a healthcare/social services workforce of 531,000+ within 50 miles.
A community devoted to wellness.
Domestic and global recruitment is supported not only by exciting healthcare opportunity but also by a nationally recognized quality of life in one of only five Blue Zone cities in the world, where many residents live approximately 10 years longer than average.
Your wellness-focused organization, whether a spa or specialty clinic, a fitness or entertainment center will be welcomed and supported in Loma Linda, where good health and wholeness are deeply rooted in our heritage of faith and continue to guide us toward a future of unlimited promise.
